The Vietnamese guitar, properly known as Guitar Phím Lõm, comes from the southern region of Vietnam and is characterized by its scalloped fingerboard.
It is used to perform traditional music Cải Lương, and is used in performance at funerals and other religious ceremonies.
The scalloped fingerboard allows for the bending of strings so as to create an expressive vibrato sound.

“Research & Record” is an original video series by lõm Guitar.

The Vietnamese guitar is said to be played mainly in the Cai Lương. Cải Lương is a traditional musical in southern Vietnam. Today, there are fewer and fewer opportunities to watch and listen to it. We have launched a project to "Research and Record" the music performance of Cai Lương. We hope to preserve as many performances as possible, focusing on Vietnamese guitar and dan bau. This is a journey to learn about the vietnamese guitar and traditional Vietnamese musical instruments.
