Earlando Arrington Neil (Feb 28, 1957 – Sept 11, 1994), better known as Early B, was one of dancehall’s true pioneers; a man whose lyrics carried history, culture, and vibes.
Early B...the original "DOCTOR" one of the early pioneers of intelligent well put together lyrics composed in a story form that made sense from beginning to end. He was not just a "RANDOM RHYMER"...his lyrics are well put together.
Early B (Earlando Neil) was killed during a performance when some knucklehead fired off a round in the air. The bullet ricocheted and killed Early, arguably the best DJ in the history of the genre (and I'm not kidding) -Bobby Buckshot
An album packed with devastatingly original lyrics from one of the most influential, modern Jamaican deejays whose peaceful mission was tragically cut short in the USA by an assassin's bullet. This collection represents the consummate studio work of Early B (The Doctor), whose dynamic appearances on the acclaimed Killimanjaro soud-system created 'roadblock on top of roadblock' each night.
During the early 1980s, stylistic dancehall toaster Earlando Neil became Early B chatting on the sound systems Soul Imperial Hi-Fi and King Majesty, consolidating his reputation on the mighty Kilimanjaro. Scoring many hits before his untimely death in 1994, the posthumous compilation Immortal was compiled by Ossie Thomas, the producer of some of B’s greatest work; highlights include the smash hit ‘Gateman Get Fraid,’ the desultory ‘Imitator,’ the sadly prescient ‘If You A Coward Leave Out Badness’ and the salutary ‘Honourable Nesta Marley.’ Highlighting Early B’s lyrical prowess, Immortal lives up to its title for sure.
