Raïmi Gbadamassi, founder of the Badmos label, a diminutive of his own name, is a Nigerian record dealer and music producer who has been living in Côte d'Ivoire since 1956. Forced to return to his country in 1958 following serious incidents between the Dahomey and Ivorian communities, he returned to Abidjan in 1962 and resumed his studies at the Soma SAMAKE college in Adjamé. Coming from a family of merchants and record store owners, Raimi Gbadamassi joined his older brother in the record business. He dropped out of school in 8th grade and started working alongside his brother. In 1974, he created the Badmos label, which produced major albums by leading artists such as Mamadou Doumbia, Bailly Spinto, Lougah François, Salif Keita, and the famous “Roi du Ziglibithy” by Ernesto Djédjé, released in 1977.
