The earliest field recordings made on the island of the Bahamas by Alan Lomax and Mary Elizabeth Barnicle, dating back as far as 1935. This collection features chanteys, anthems, ring games, and round dances, as well as one of the earliest known recordings of “Sloop John B”, made famous by The Beach Boys.
